The Forum of Cities of Friendship and Cooperation - 2025 is being held in Da Nang, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, from January 16 to 18. Within the framework of this event, on January 17, a Memorandum on the establishment of twinning relations between the cities of Aktau and Da Nang was signed, inAktau reports.kz with reference to the press service of the akimat of the city.
Twinning relations between the two cities were established on the initiative and in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, given during his official visit to Vietnam, which took place from August 20 to 22, 2023.
The delegation from Aktau to Da Nang was welcomed by the Mayor of the city, Le Chung Chin, and the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Vietnam, Kanat Tumysh.
A delegation led by Akim of Aktau city Abilkair Baypakov, with the support of Akim of Mangystau region Nurdaulet Kilybai, visited the city of Da Nang, where they held talks with the leadership of this administrative-territorial unit.
As a result, Abilkair Baypakov, together with the Chairman of the People's Committee (Mayor) of Da Nang, signed a document on establishing twinning relations between the two port cities.
The signed agreement will become an important incentive for the socio-economic development of Aktau city. The memorandum provides for strengthening twinning ties and cooperation between the two cities in such areas as trade, economy, investment, transport, logistics, tourism, and cultural and humanitarian cooperation. In addition, during the visit, the issue of the need to consider the issue of opening flights between Aktau and Da Nang in the foreseeable future was discussed.
At the Forum of Cities of Friendship and Cooperation 2025, Da Nang signed two agreements on establishing twinning relations with the cities of Aktau (Kazakhstan) and Genoa (Italy). In total, Da Nang maintains sister city relations with 50 cities from 24 countries.
