In Aktau, work is underway to dredge the water intake channel of MAEK LLP, the press service of the Mayor's office of the city reports.
The head of the Aktau City Construction Department, Erkinbek Aukan, stressed that these works are aimed at providing the city with a stable supply of drinking water.
"In order to provide the city with a stable supply of drinking water and electricity, an agreement was signed between the Akimat of Aktau and a contractor. Currently, MAEK LLP is carrying out work on dredging the intake canal. The completion of construction works according to the agreement is scheduled for January 2025. The total length of the work performed is about 560 meters, and the width is on average 20 meters," said Yerkinbek Zhaukan, head of the Aktau City Construction Department.
Alexey Gatin, Technical Director of the contractor company, noted that water is supplied through this channel to the thermal power plant (CHP-2) of MAEK LLP.
"In this area, it is necessary to deepen the channel to 3 meters. Currently, three tracked excavators are involved in the work, one of them with a long boom of 18 meters. Additionally, equipment with standard equipment is used to prepare the technological road. These works have been underway since October 14, 2024. To date, the volume of excavated soil is about 5,000 m3, and 23,515 m3 must be developed under the contract," said Alexey Gatin, technical director of the contractor company.
